Mauricio Gómez was born in Medellín in 1965. He studied Fine Arts at the National University and later traveled to Florence, Italy where he  studied restoration. Brushwoods have been his interest and theme of investigation for many years. The works of Mauricio Gómez are in the permanent collections  of the  Museums of Modern Art of Medellín, Museum of Antioquia, Chamber of Commerce of Bucaramanga, Colinversiones; In addition to Private Collectors from several countries in America and Europe. He has been professor of painting at the National University based Medellín. He lived in France, in Pont Aven, Brittany and in La Prée Abbey .
